Legendary composer John Kander (Chicago, Cabaret) joined his New York, New York collaborators Susan Stroman, David Thompson, and Sharon Washington to talk about creating musical theatre in the inaugural entry of the new The Artist in the Open Jar series.

Broadway Shark Tank, a pitch program for new musicals that allows writers to present their original work to industry experts and potential backers, has announced their inaugural participants.

Open Jar Studios launched an innovative Membership Program today - a first for rehearsal studios - designed to support theatre artists and their creative endeavors. The program is set to provide free studio space each month and additional affordable solutions to the needs of performers and creators seeking rehearsal space in the heart of TImes Square.

While there were many issues facing New York, it was clear that we needed to change the narrative and bring back joy, to give us hope and energy to tackle the difficult problems and days ahead.
So many of you answered the call and stepped in. We started with pop-ups, producing a total of 14 across the five boroughs, gathered love letters to NYC and developed an ad campaign to remind us all of why New York was alive and kicking. And we didn’t stop there.

NYC's Open Jar Studios has acquired the boutique theatrical printing service Bway Printing, which specializes in printing and hand-delivering scripts and scores for Broadway rehearsals.
