Open Jar Studios Leads Price Comparison for NYC Rehearsal Space: 2025

Each quarter a price comparison between the major rehearsal studios is made to enable clients to understand the price comparison. This comparison was made on June 14th, 2025.

PRICE COMPARISON:

As each studio size is slightly different, the most equitable method to compare studio cost is to compare the price per square foot (per hour) as seen in the chart below:

Location is not taken into account in this comparison, but should be considered when evaluating the value of the rental. For example, property value below 42nd Street is much less than property above 42nd Street. Open Jar Studios and Sunlight are both located above 42nd street, while Pearl Studios and Ripley Grier are located below 42nd Street.

ASSESSMENT: Open Jar Studios is the most valuable choice, and most often the most economical choice.
Additionally, clients can make additional savings with the membership program.

PRICE COMPARISON:

As the studio sizes do not match exactly in square footage, the best comparison is to take the price per square foot by hour. By comparing those prices, the following assessment is made:

• XL STUDIOS: Open Jar is by far the least expensive studio. Additionally, Open Jar’s size (4,015/sf) is more than 60% larger than the closest studio (Ripley @ 1,568/sf). Occupancy at Open Jar allows for up to 300 vs. 75 in the other studios.

• LARGE STUDIOS: Open Jar is less expensive than Ripley-Grier and Sunlight and slightly more expensive than Pearl by ONE CENT.

• MEDIUM STUDIOS: Open Jar is less expensive than Pearl and Sunlight and slightly more expensive than Ripley by ONE CENT.

• SMALL STUDIOS: Open Jar and Pearl (at same price) are less expensive than Sunlight and Ripley.
